The Colon Theatre is a very famous theatre that is well known all across the world. It is actually one of the best acoustic in the entire world. The building alone takes up about 8,202 sq. mts. and it features a mix of Italian and French Baroque. The theatre is capable of seating up to 2,478 people and 4000 people are able to stand is this limit is exceeded. The building is 7 stories high.

The entire inside of the building is made up of mostly the colors red and gold.

History of the Colon Theatre

The very first Colon theatre was opened on April 28th in 1857. It was located across the way from Plaza de Mayo. The structure of the building was created by Carlos E. Pellegrini. This building lasted for about 4 decades and then it was changed into Banco de la Nacion Argentina where very famous singers of Argentina performed their music.

Features of the Building

The Colon Theatre is located by the Libertad, A. Toscani, Tucuman Street, and A. Toscanini. The surrounding ground that it was built on is a total of 37884 sq. mts. and the facades are separated in three orders. A pointed roof stands above the terraces.

The building features French and Italian features. The basement was created with Greek style ideas. On the floors, walls, and the monumental you will find this style. The hallway openings have huge arch entrances with very distinctive molding features. The style is eclectic, which is a style that was commonly used during the early 20th century.

The entrance of the hallway of the Colon Theatre is what most people remember. It is basically made from Verona marble with a stained glass dome at the very top. The staircase which leads to the foyer also has the stained glass on the walls. The foyer room is known as the golden room. Next to where the main stairs are there is a lane which leads to where the carriages are. It is a narrow street on the interior for traveling between Toscanini and Tucuman St.

The ornamentation was built with very high quality marble in different areas throughout the theatre. The staircase is made from white marble and the balusters are made out of marble which came from Portugal. At the very end of the staircase, there are two carved lion heads on either side of it. The lion heads were both hand carved. The last area of the semicircle area gives guests access to a hallway where they are led to two vitreaux that are used as bolsters for the Golden Hall.

The Busts hall is located in the foyer and it is where several famous composers have sculpture figures posted in remembrance of them. Composer such as Beethoven, Bizet, Rossini, and Wagner can be found on there. You can see the entrance hallway when you look from the large windows.

From either end of the Busts hall, you can get to the Golden Hall. This hall takes up the entire side of where Libertad Street is; two endings of the hall meet together to join the streets.

David Oistrakh

David Oistrakh lived from 1908-1974. He was born the same exact year that #2 died so he was known as the reincarnation.
Fritz Kreisler

He was a master of the prerecording age and he lived during the years of 1875-1962. He was not a forceful person but he was polite and charming. He loved to show off his skills on the violin in front of the audience and add some special techniques that he knew the audience would enjoy. He usually used #5 when performing. His abilities were excellent with it and the true aggression of the tone was executed very well. Kreisler died being one of the wealthiest musicians during his time.

Mischa Elman

He has many admirers until this very day which consider him to be one of the best recorders of all time while using the #5. His technique and quality of tone were simply superb. He had a very strong emotion that was expressed whenever he would play his violin; he was not quite as intense as some of the other players.

Giuesppe Tartini

Giueseppe Tartini was born in 1692 and died in 1770. He is remembered by the fun can creative origins that he created while playing his violin. His great skills of the violin were first realized when he played the Devil’s Trill Sonato on the violin as a solo.

Ole Bull

Ole Bull was Norwegian and he lived in 1810-1880. He toured all across Europe during the time that he lived. Bull never seemed to miss a note with his clever precise skills of playing the violin.

Jascha Heifetz

He was one of the greatest violin players of the recording age. He was born in 1901 and he died in 1987. He was one of the only few violin players that was able to hit the highest note towards the end of the piece Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.

Arcangelo Corelli

Arcangelo was born in the year 1653. Thanks to Corelli many of the current violinists know how to play the violin correctly by placing the correct fingers on the strings that they are supposed to use them for. Corelli was famous all across Europe during his days.

During the medieval ages is when the very first stringed instruments were created. Stringed instruments are those that are played with a bow. The first instrument that was created is that instrument that we now know as a Fiddle.

However, the Fiddle didn’t really have too much in common with the violin. During the 15th century is when the Violin was in the process of being created. It was not yet exposed until the early years of the 16th century. Shortly after this the cello and the viola were created out of the idea of the violin.

Violins and other instruments that are in the same category are all known as a group called Stringed Instruments Family. The group was created in order to modify the satisfaction of the sounds that were needed during these times in Italy. The Violin has been improved over the past several decades, but it still remains about the same as it was when it first came out.

The quality of the strings and the other wooden materials improved over time which allows them to last a lot longer.

During the 30 years war, which Italy ended up escaping, the Violin reached a peak in popularity.

Andrea Amati became a popular founder of one of the most famous violin making schools of all time. Shortly after this, the creation of the Violin spread out all across Europe.

Cremona has always been known and remembered or being the home of creating the best Violins. Two of the most popular types of Violins which were created by Stradiveri and Guarneri remain to be the most preferred Violins by people all over the world. The quality of these Violins is simply superb.

By the time the 18th century hit, there was such a high demand for the Violin that the inventory was low. The developers of the Violin had to start making them twice as fast as what they were previously. This however affected the quality of the Violins, causing them to not last as long since developers were required to use varnish that would dry a lot faster.

Now violin lovers and the creators truly miss the old varnish which allows the good quality of the violins to last a lot longer. Since the old varnish was missed so much the violin makers begin to try to invest in time to created the old varnishes once again.

There have been complaints of the Violins that have been created in the later times because the rivers the waterways which transport them now are not as pure as what they were in the early years. In fact, they are more polluted. The substances that are in the water which are polluted have penetrated into the wood.

As the wood dries, the substance that was in the water remains in the wood which affects the quality of the wood. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done to reverse this affect as the purity of the waterways cannot be changed.

Opera music is one of the oldest forms of musical entertainment in the history of music. The word Opera is an Italian word that means labor. An opera show has always been associated with having a bit of acting, singing, costumes, music, and dancing. The first opera to ever be created is called Dafne; this piece was composed by Jacopo Peri. He has assistance with the piece by Giulio Caccini. The libretto was written by Ottavio Rinucchini and it was presented to the public in 1297.

The opera is a story about a Greek tragedy; and many of the following operas that were first created were based off of Greek story lines. This music was a very unique way to express a story, but nowadays there really aren’t too many people that are into opera so the history of it is beginning to fade away.

Dafne was a small story which was not performed by a large ensemble, but rather a smaller one.

The story that is being told is about Apollo falling in love with Daphne. The format of this opera was so well-liked when it was presented that a second version of it was requested. So they did, and the second piece was called L’Euridice which was performed for the very first time in 1600. Peri performed the lead role of the opera this time around.

Again, the layout for this piece was based during the Greek times when Orpheus falls madly in love with Euridice. Euridice was a nymph that was taken to the underworld and it was up to Orpheus to rescue her.

When these first operas were made available, it was the very first time for people to learn or recitatives. This is when the characters of the show have to express what they are thinking and feeling, but only every once so often during the show. As the mood of the singer changes, their singing voices change to match just what they are thinking so that the audience will have a better feel for their expression.

In most songs there are usually choruses and verses that are repeated, but not in opera. The play is moved along with the recitative.

There are various different opera pieces that are popular and until this very day there are operas available to go and see for those that are involved in theatre. However, as mentioned before not as many people are into opera like they used to be. You can search online for more facts about the most popular pieces of opera music that were performed.

One more well-known opera piece that many people know about today is called the Phantom of the Opera. A summary of it is a girl by the name of Christine that was left behind after her father and mother passed on. She became a part of an opera show and she had always been told stories by her father about the Angel of Music.

Before her father died he told her about the Angel of Music once again; that he would send the angel to her. She later thinks that the Angel of Music is the Phantom of the Opera who later falls in love with her and dies of a broken heart.

Dancing is described as when a person moves to the rhythm of the music with their body. It is the art of moving the body and expressing with the type of music that you are listening to.

Dancing can also be described as the non verbal communication between two people; this is an action that is also commonly executed by animals. Certain types of motion that is shown with animated characters can be described as dancing as well.

Dancing can be also be described as non verbal communication between humans. Animation and graphic movements are also described as dancing.

Now we’re going to discuss a bit about Classic Dance.

There are various different forms of classical dancing. The reason for this is because of the variety of cultures and ethnicities that have their own versions of classical dancing. In this article, Ballet will be the type of classical dance that will be discussed.

This type of dancing first started in the late 1400s in Italy. However it wasn’t until the mid 1600s that this form of dancing became more popular and noticeable. Classic dance has been known to highly influence people with its special way of telling a story line in various different theater performances.

A great current film that you can watch to see a better example of Classical dance ballet would be Black Swan. Even since this ballet movie came available to watch, the style of clothing from Classical dance has inspired many.

There have always been a large number of leotards, dresses, and accessories that can be worn for those that perform this type of dancing, but after this film was released the Classical dance style has more new ideas for wardrobe pieces that are currently available. The color and style of the clothing help to express the mood of the dance moves that are displayed; this is why the clothing is important when it comes to Classic dance.

During the 15th century, Domenico da Piacenza taught the nobles how to perform Classic ballet dance in the court rooms and at special events such as weddings. As time went on this form of dancing changed; there were more moves added and a slight altering in the way the dancers dressed. The floor length skirts were common to be worn in ballet during the earlier years, but as time went on tutus were worn because they made it easier for girls and women to dance in.

Nothing has changed too much with the way men dressed for this style of Classic, besides the clothing updating bit; but men have always worn tights just like women which made it easier for them to move in.

Below are some of the ballet shows that you might have heard of or seen; they are pretty popular:

Black Swan

Sleeping Beauty

Giselle

The Nutcracker

Most people know about these popular stories which were expressed by performing Classic dance ballet. You can read more about these stories online if you don’t know about some of them.

There are various different types of violins and they come in different sizes as well. Once you start to play the violin you will more than likely realize that there is much more to this instrument than you expected.

Technicalities are highly involved when it comes to the violin and there is simply a lot of science involved in the creation of violins.

If you were to visit in instrument store for the first time you will be able to see all of the different types of violins that are available.

There are nine different sizes that you will find the violin available in. The main reason for this is because violin experts recommend that violin lessons start at a really young age. Below are the sizes that you will find in a child’s violin:

1/32

1/16

1/10

1/8

¼

½

¾

The adult violin sizes are:

8/8

7/8

The sizes vary in the body of the violin and the length of the arm of the violin. Violins also come in different categories depending upon the brand, the make, style, and era it was created it. Below are descriptions of a few of the different categories of violins that you will find.

Baroque Violin

This is an older type of violin which was created between the times of the 16th and 18th century. What makes this violin different from the rest is the shallow angular shape of the neck.

Classical Violin
This violin has a think neck with small heels

Modern Violin
The modern violin isn’t rare compare to the two mentioned above. This is one that you will easily find when you shop for a new violin. T has sharp angles; and is higher as well as light weight. This is a rather comfortable style which allows is to easily be played. The chin and shoulder rests reduce any type of strain that could occur while playing.

Wooden/Acoustic Violin

The majority of violins are made up of wood. The types of wood that you will find most violins are made of include the following:

Spruce

Willow

Poplar

Ebony

Lime

Maple

Boxwood

Rosewood

The above violins that were described are made of wood.

Electric Violin

This type of violin includes an electrical outlet. The sound that comes from this violin is a lot sharper and louder compared to the other types of violins. Some models of electric violins are versatile and allow you to play them as acoustic and electric depending upon what you prefer. The main two materials that are used to create electric violins are Carbon Fibre and Kevlar.

Variety of Strings

The body and the strings of each guitar differ from each other. There are 3 main types of strings; gut, synthetic, and steel. Synthetic strings are easy to handle, therefore making them the most preferred option amongst the other types of strings. The steel strings are mainly used by experts and professional violin players.
